We recognise the importance of having a high quality doe herd to both produce the quality mohair that keeps the enterprise profitable and to breed elite animals.  Although we have made wonderful gains we still have some work to do to get to having a large herd of our perfect Angoras.

We believe that in order for the Angora to thrive in Australia selection for faster growth, large frame and strong bone is critical, and that selection for mohair should not take priority of the ability to survive, produce and reproduce.  The Angora is the most prolific fibre producer in the world, which allows to focus on improving quality rather than quantity of mohair grown.

We are now selecting for fine, long mohair and increased body weight and do not actively select for fleece weight.  Our breeding objective is simple: a fine, long and well defined staple that is even from front to back on a large, robust animal with absolute freedom from pigment and harsh fibre

Our comittment to quality has never been stronger

Does graze on medic and annual grass pastures from the break of season until late spring.  Once harvest is complete they will be moved on to stubble paddocks.  The goats thrive in our warm dry climate.

Our new african genetics are making a wonderful contribution to the quality of the doe herd.  We will rapidly build our numbers of these elite lines through embryo transplant programs

Celebrating Mallee Park Nisha Rani, the leading doe at Mallee Park, she displays all of the qualities we are selecting for in our Angoras.  She is a daughter of Timark and full sister to Manang Chief and Amarula.

Mallee Park Amarula, a daughter of Timark and a full sister to Nisha Rani above shares many of her great characteristics.

Mallee Park Maggie is another Timark daughter displaying the wonderful qualities of the doe line from this sire.
